Insurance company investigator Gu Zhiming (Alan Tam) rushed home on a rainy night to celebrate his four-year engagement with his wife Ivy (Ye Tong). Unfortunately, on a rainy day, Gu Zhiming nearly bumped into a woman in red. Ivy had a hot temper, and Gu Zhiming had to put up with his discontent. That night, Gu Zhiming's younger brother played the game of disc immortals. At the same time, a woman in red clothes named Zhang Xiaoyu accidentally fell to her death. The ongoing game of disc immortals just received the signal of Zhang's death. The next day, Gu Zhiming was ordered to investigate the cause of Zhang Xiaoyu's death in order to settle the claim. Unexpectedly, a series of strange phenomena occurred around Gu. At a time when the relationship between Gu Zhiming and Ivy became increasingly tense, the female ghost Zhang Xiaoyu showed up at Gu Zhiming's home and declared that she meant no harm and only wanted the insurance money to be given to the girl next door, while Gu Zhiming's leader signaled that the case would be handled according to suicide to avoid compensation. Zhang Xiaoyu appeared more and more frequently, and Gu Zhiming gradually developed feelings for this clever female ghost.

保險公司調查員古志明（譚詠麟 飾）在雨夜趕回家參加和婚期妻Ivy（葉童 飾）訂婚四年的慶祝，不巧雨天路滑，古志明險些撞到一名紅衣女子……Ivy為人脾氣火爆，古志明雖有不滿也只得忍受，當夜古志明胞弟玩起了碟仙遊戲，與此同時，名叫張小瑜的紅衣女子不慎失足墜樓身亡，正在進行中的碟仙遊戲恰好收到了張亡故的信號。次日，古志明奉命調查張小瑜死因以便進行理賠，豈料連串怪異現象在古的身邊發生。在古志明和Ivy的關係日益緊張之時，女鬼張小瑜現身古志明家中，申明自己並無惡意，只希望得到保險金贈送鄰家女童，而古志明的領導卻示意此案按照自殺處理以免去賠付。張小瑜出現的頻率愈發增加，而古志明對這位乖巧的女鬼漸漸產生了情愫……
